Vietnam foreign minister gets street food treat in Singapore

Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son was invited to have lunch with Singaporean signature food at one of the most popular hawker food centers in the country.

After joining a talk with his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan on Tuesday, Son was taken to the Maxwell Hawker Center, one of Singapore’s biggest centers for street food, located in Chinatown with more than 100 stalls.

Minister Balakrishnan introduced Son to the stall owned by Nguyen Thi Kieu Hanh, a Vietnamese Singaporean woman.

Hanh used to work for a restaurant serving Vietnamese food in Singapore but then she switched to selling a type of crepe that originated from Indian cuisine and has now become a signature of Singapore.

At the stall, the two ministers enjoyed a meal with the crepe, chicken rice, and milk tea.
