Vietnamese leaders have sent their condolences to the royal family, the government and people in the UK after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue sent condolence messages respectively to King Charles III, UK Prime Minister Lizz Truss, Lord Speaker John McFall and the Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle, according to a statement from Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In their telegrams, the Vietnam leaders sent their deep condolences to the royal family, government, parliament and people of the UK, and expressed their appreciation for the Queen’s affection and support in promoting Vietnam – UK relations.

The same day, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son sent his condolences to UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.

Queen Elizabeth II died September 8 at Balmoral Palace, Scotland, aged 96. She was crowned in 1952, at the age of 25, after the death of her father, King George VI. In June, the UK hosted the Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II to celebrate the 70th anniversary of her accession, longer than any other monarch in the country’s history.
