Vietjet carries 5.4 million passengers in Q1

Vietjet Air operated over 31,000 flights with several new routes in the first quarter, earning revenues of VND12.6 trillion ($537.38 million).

Vietjet’s financial report showed the sales of goods and ancillary services accounted for 42% of its total revenues. The airline operated 31,260 flights serving 5.4 million passengers in Q1.

“Businesses are recovering post-pandemic, and we are ready for a bounce-back strategy,” a representative said.

Vietjet reopened its service connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Hong Kong in early 2023, increasing the frequency to seven flights per week. The airline also added more wide-body A330 aircraft into its fleet for expanding regional and global routes.

The A330 aircraft has been used on international routes opened in early April, including flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne and Sydney (Australia).

Vietjet plans to further expand its international flight network with the addition of new routes by June, including Phu Quoc – Hong Kong, Da Nang – Hong Kong, and Ho Chi Minh City – Brisbane (Australia).

In the domestic market, the Can Tho – Van Don (Quang Ninh) route will be launched, connecting the Mekong Delta and the Red River Delta, creating favorable conditions for economic development between these two key economic regions.

At the end of 2022, the airline opened new routes to Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad (India) and Kazakhstan.

Vietjet has also offered many promotions and new products and services to enhance flight experiences.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has forecast that air passenger demand would recover to pre-pandemic levels on most routes by the first quarter of this year, growing around 3% from 2019 figures, and expected to be around 4% higher in 2024.
