SINGAPORE — The future leader programme for Vietnamese officials opened at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy under the National University of Singapore on Monday, aiming to share Singapore’s knowledge and experience in addressing development challenges, thereby defining areas of more effective cooperation between the two nations.

Addressing the event, Lại Xuân Môn, member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, highlighted the natural bond between Việt Nam and Singapore, as well as strong progress in energy cooperation between the two countries recently.

Môn affirmed that the Party and State of Việt Nam attach great importance to studying and exchanging information and experience in sustainable development, science-technology promotion, and state and social governance methods from Singapore.

Within the training plan for strategic officials of Việt Nam, trainees will attend an in-depth, scientific training course, and meet with leaders and former leaders of Singapore, especially former Prime Minister and Honorary Emeritus Senior Minister of State of Singapore Goh Chok Tong. They will also take field trips to several agencies, organisations, and businesses in Singapore.

Môn said Singapore’s national development experiences and national governance skills and visions will be useful to Việt Nam’s future senior leaders in the goal of sustainable national development in the coming time.

Associate Prof. Vũ Minh Khương from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy underscored that strengthening cooperation, exchanging experiences and learning from each other between Việt Nam and Singapore are the right direction to help both countries create value and vitality and develop together, and enhance their positions in the international arena.

He affirmed that the programme is a chance for potential leaders of Việt Nam and Singaporean stakeholders to build trust and define areas of effective cooperation to address development challenges, thus promoting the Việt Nam-Singapore strategic partnership.

The programme, jointly organised by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Temasek Foundation, Hồ Chí Minh National Academy of Politics and Sembcorp, will last until August 30. — VNS
