Việt Nam exceeds eight million COVID cases

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam has exceeded 8 million coronavirus cases, as new 131,713 infections were detected on Monday.

It is the fifth straight day the country has seen a decline in the number of new transmissions, with total cases in the country now standing at 8,089,761 since the start of the pandemic.

About 4,169 COVID-19 patients are in serious or critical condition, with the majority requiring oxygen masks, 297 requiring invasive ventilation and five on life support.

Hà Nội witnessed a reduction in the number of new daily transmissions for the 10th day in a row, with 17,916 cases. 

The city has more than 346,950 COVID-19 cases currently being treated and monitored, with more than 99 per cent being treated at home.

Among about 3,300 cases being treated in hospitals, there are 589 severe infections, down nearly 10 per cent compared to the average seven days ago.

The remaining infections were found in Nghệ An (5,403), Phú Thọ (5,348), Bắc Ninh (4,295), Lào Cai (4,282), Bắc Giang (3,908), Tuyên Quang (3,896), Lạng Sơn (3,769), Yên Bái (3,755), Vĩnh Phúc (3,686), Bắc Kạn (3,684), Hải Dương (3,620), Đắk Lắk (3,592), Thái Bình (3,016), Sơn La (2,988), Hưng Yên (2,908), Quảng Bình (2,853), Gia Lai (2,793), Hòa Bình (2,793), Thái Nguyên (2,783), Cà Mau (2,714), Quảng Ninh (2,638), Bình Dương (2,452), Cao Bằng (2,264), Bình Định (2,232), Điện Biên (1,983), Hà Nam (1,798), Lai Châu (1,777), Lâm Đồng (1,729), Hà Giang (1,714), Quảng Trị (1,542), HCM City (1,487), Bến Tre (1,451), Ninh Bình (1,446), Vĩnh Long (1,438), Kon Tum (1,246), Bình Phước (1,206), Tây Ninh (1,194), Đắk Nông (1,175), Nam Định (1,112), Phú Yên (973), Hà Tĩnh (968), Thanh Hóa (867), Trà Vinh (812), Quảng Ngãi (811), Đà Nẵng (788), Hải Phòng (758), Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu (692), Khánh Hòa (616), Thừa Thiên-Huế (610), Bình Thuận (450), Quảng Nam (353), Bạc Liêu (249), Cần Thơ (173), An Giang (170), Long An (134), Đồng Nai (77), Đồng Tháp (77), Kiên Giang (76), Ninh Thuận (74), Sóc Trăng (52), Hậu Giang (38) and Tiền Giang (5).

Việt Nam reported an additional 69 COVID-related deaths on Monday, raising the nation’s death toll since the pandemic started in 2020 to 41,949, accounting for 0.5 per cent of infections.

179,640 COVID-19 patients made a full recovery on Monday. The total number of recovered patients in Việt Nam has now reached 4,282,668.

More than 201.8 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Việt Nam so far, including 184.6 million doses for adults. About 17.06 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been given to children aged 12-17 years. — VnExpress News
