URC Vietnam implements social responsibility across operations

After nearly 20 years of development in the Vietnamese market, URC Vietnam Co., Ltd. never stops “giving” through a variety of social activities including awarding scholarships, providing warm clothes to children in mountainous areas, giving rice and other necessities to disadvantaged families.

URC Vietnam Co., Ltd was one of the top 100 Sustainable Development Enterprises in Vietnam in 2020, winning the CSI Award from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Realizing the urgency of clean water, the company has provided modern industrial water filtration systems in some communes of Lam Dong Province like Loc Nam, Loc Lam (Bao Lam district), and Da Quynh (Duc Trong District), where people face many difficulties due to the lack of water sources, especially during dry seasons.

Lack of clean water has become a widespread concern among people, who have started drilling wells, digging ponds, buying water, using river and stream water with poor quality, and even reusing water.

According to the WHO 2019 report, one third of the world’s population lacks access to clean water and the situation will become even more difficult in the next three decades as the global population increases. In Vietnam, natural conditions and climate change in recent years have caused a shortage of clean water for leisure activities and manufacture in many localities.

URC Vietnam has developed water filtration system with RO membrane technology from the U.S., along with an automatic operation mechanism and filtering capacity up to 1,500 liters per hour. The system can also apply disinfection, decontamination, and removal of microorganisms to ensure user health. After completion, such projects will provide clean water to more than 10,000 people in the above localities.

“Water is an essential resource in life. Therefore, providing the community with clean water sources is to create positive values for the locality,” Le Huu Tri, representative of URC Vietnam emphasized.

According to Tri, providing a water purification system to the community forms part of the series of projects “Supporting and improving the quality of people life in tea growing areas” implemented by the brand of C2 Green Tea and URC Vietnam in 2022 and will continue to expand in many other localities in the near future.

Most recently, URC Vietnam, the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province and the province’s Children’s Fund have awarded scholarships to support children in schools and nurture their dreams.

The Binh Duong-based URC Vietnam Co., Ltd. is a member of Universal Robina Corporation (URC), a branch of JG Summit Philippines, among the top 300 leading companies in Asia (according to Nikkei Asia Review) with more than 65 years of experience.

URC has been officially operating in Vietnam since 2003 with a total investment capital exceeding $200 million by the end of 2021.

Recently, URC Vietnam received a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong province for contributions to the young generation in the province over the years.
