Two more Vietnamese confirmed dead in China car accident

Two more Vietnamese were confirmed dead in a car crash in China last weekend, bringing the total number of Vietnamese casualties in the incident to 11, Vietnam’s foreign ministry said.

Besides the 11 Vietnamese casualties, two Vietnamese and the Chinese driver were injured when a seven-seat car fell off a cliff at a mountainous area of China’s Siming Village, about 5-6 km from the Vietnam border, on May 19, the General Consulate of Vietnam in Nanning cited Chinese authorities as saying on May 22.

Chinese authorities said the car was a seven-seat one, but carried twice the number of people allowed.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is cooperating with local authorities to verify the identities of the victims, report the information back to their families and relevant authorities, and perform other procedures, the ministry said in a statement Thursday.

The two injured Vietnamese’s health is currently stable, the ministry added.
