Truck driver fleeing the scene after killing mother, 3 children in Hà Nội

HÀ NỘI — A truck driver caused an accident killing a woman and her three children and then fled the scene on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at 11.00am on July 16, in Dương Liễu Commune, Hoài Đức District, Hà Nội City.

Initial reports show that a 15-tonne truck carrying construction materials, bearing license plate number 88C-288.49, was heading to Minh Khai Street when it failed to slow down at the intersection.

The truck’s front end collided with the right side of a smaller truck, bearing license plate number 29C-597.75, which was entering the intersection.

The collision caused the small truck to veer into a motorbike driven by N.T.H., who was carrying her three children, N.T.K.O., N.T.T.M., and N.T.S. All four were pinned against a bridge abutment and died at the scene.

The driver of the small truck, identified as L.V.N., was injured whereas the driver of the 15-tonne, identified as Đ.V.L., fled the scene after the accident.

Police have launched a search for Đ.V.L, urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward. — VNS
