The Ascott Limited (Ascott), which manages the Somerset brand of serviced residences in Vietnam, kicked off its 30th anniversary celebrations in Hanoi on Friday with a thanking gala dinner.
Held at Somerset Grand Hanoi, the event was graced by Ng Teck Hean, Singapore’s Ambassador to Vietnam, and saw nearly 300 guests comprising business partners and residents.
Starting from one property each in Singapore (The Ascott Singapore on Scotts Road) and France (Citadines La Défense Paris), Ascott has since grown to become the world’s largest international owner-operator of serviced residences with over 35,000 apartment units in more than 200 properties.
Tony Soh, Ascott’s Chief Corporate Officer, who also oversees Ascott’s business in Vietnam, said: “2014 marks Ascott’s 30th years of hospitality excellence and our 20th years of operations in Vietnam.
“Since opening our first serviced residence in Vietnam, Somerset West Lake Hanoi, in 1994, we have also grown to become the largest international serviced residence owner-operator in the country, with more than 1,800 apartment units across 12 properties.”
Soh also said Ascott would open its first property in Hai Phong, Somerset Central TD Hai Phong City, later this year; its first property in Danang, Somerset Danang Bay, in 2015; and Somerset West Central Hanoi in 2016.
Ascott has received numerous awards internationally and in Vietnam, including “Vietnam’s Leading Serviced Apartment Brand” at World Travel Awards 2013.
Currently, guests can choose from Ascott’s three serviced residences in Hanoi – Somerset Grand Hanoi, Somerset Hoa Binh and Somerset West Lake, and three serviced residences in Ho Chi Minh City – Somerset Chancellor Court, Somerset Vista and Somerset Ho Chi Minh City.
Ascott also operates Vista Residences and Diamond Island Luxury Residences for corporate leases in Ho Chi Minh City and will open Diamond Island Luxury Serviced Residences in 2016.
