A two-year-old boy in the northern province of Cao Bang was hospitalized Wednesday after being mauled by a neighbor’s dog.
The boy was taken to Cao Bang general hospital with deep gashes on his face and head, along with blood loss, doctors at the hospital said. The father of the boy said he was playing in the yard when the dog attacked. The dog’s species has not been confirmed.
The child had his wounds cleaned and stitched, and they were also inoculated against rabies. The child’s family has asked to transfer him to a hospital in Hanoi for continued treatment.
Public opinion has been divided on the matter of muzzling dogs in public places. Many non-dog owners have requested that dogs be muzzled in public as a safety measure.
