Tickets for AFF Cup final 2nd leg in Bangkok snapped up in 5 minutes

Some 20,000 tickets for the second leg of the AFF Cup final in Bangkok between hosts Thailand and Vietnam on January 16 sold out within just five minutes Thursday.

The match will be played at the Thammasat Stadium, which has a capacity of 25,000. The organizers offered more than 20,000 tickets online starting at 10 a.m. and they were all snapped up in a flash.

The tickets cost 600 baht ($18) for stand A, 450 baht for stand B and 250 baht for stands C and D.

Thairath newspaper reported that their black market price is double.

For away team fans the price is 750 baht.

The prices are only around half that Vietnamese authorities charged for the first leg at Hanoi’s 40,000-seat My Dinh National Stadium Friday.

They sold tickets at VND400,000 to VND1 million ($17-42.66), and all were bought within two hours on Tuesday.

By Thursday afternoon they were going on the black market at four times their original prices.

Vietnam’s home games in the group stage and the semifinal were not sellouts.

Vietnam and Thailand have met once at the Thammasat Stadium, a 0-0 draw in the second stage of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in September 2019.

After reaching the final the Football Association of Thailand asked the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) to switch the match to the 51,000-seat Rajamangala National Stadium.

But the governing body refused saying a music concert was just held there and the pitch is not in good condition.

Both matches kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will be reported live on VnExpress International.
