The next generation: 3 heirs of Vietnam’s leading plastic companies

Dat, 34, is the son of the 65-year-old Tran Duy Hy, Chairman and CEO of Duy Tan Plastics Manufacturing Corporation, which was founded by Hy and specializes in high-quality household, packaging, and industrial plastics.
In 2021, Duy Tan Plastics joined Thailand’s SCG Packaging (SCGP) following the sale of 70% of its shares to the Thai conglomerate. Presently, it operates five factories, distributing products nationwide and exporting to more than 60 countries.
Academically, Dat is highly qualified, with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Management from the University of Virginia, and an MBA from the University of California. He started at his family’s company as a business analyst, rapidly advancing to COO of a branch and assistant to the general director.
He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Family Business Club under the Young Businesspeople Association of Ho Chi Minh City, where he is known for his active engagement.

In June, Dat (R) wed actress Midu.
Born Dang Thi My Dung, Midu, 35, is a notable personality in Vietnam’s entertainment sector. She began her career as a teen model before moving into acting, and now also works as a lecturer and entrepreneur.

Initially known in the entertainment sector as a member of the boy band WEboys and a host, Thang, 38, is the scion of the Tan Hiep Hung plastics empire.
He completed his studies at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in 2010 and then focused on music before returning to his business roots.
Thang now owns over 13% of his family’s business and is the Chairman of a leading entertainment company.

He is celebrated for his long-standing relationship with pop star Dong Nhi (far L), 36. The couple married in 2019, welcomed their first daughter in 2020, and is now expecting their second child.

Businessman Pham Tran Nhat Minh, known as Minh “Nhua” (Minh Plastic), is the sole son of Pham Van Muoi, CEO of Long Thanh Plastics.
At 41, Minh is known for his immense wealth, extravagant lifestyle, and his collection of supercars. He is the Deputy CEO of Long Thanh Plastics, holding roughly 30% of the company’s shares.

He married socialite Mina Pham, 34, in 2011 following the end of his first marriage. He has five children: three from his first marriage and two from his second.
