A teenager in Central Highlands’ Lam Dong Province jumped into a Da Lat lake to save two people trapped in a sinking car.
On Feb. 21, a car was driving on Tran Quoc Toan Street before it veered into Ho Xuan Huong lake in the center of Da Lat, a mountain town popular with tourists for its forests, waterfalls and bohemian arts culture. The car was carrying four people at the time.
Two managed to swim back on land and called for help. Nguyen Trung Hieu, 17, was riding a motorbike near the scene. When he saw the accident, he jumped into the lake and rescued the two people still stuck inside the sinking car.
Hieu was awarded a certificate from Da Lat municipal authorities on Thursday for his heroic act.
Hieu and his mother had come to Da Lat from Long An Province, near Ho Chi Minh City, seeking jobs.
