On Aug. 21, a video of the 41-year-old actress attending Andy Lau’s live concert quickly became a trending topic on Weibo. Fans noticed that Michelle was no longer wearing her wedding ring, which she had consistently worn in previous public appearances.
According to Next Apple, sources suggest that Michelle Chen and Chen Xiao are in the process of divorcing and are waiting for the right moment to make it public. The couple has reportedly been separated for almost a year and has ceased interacting on social media. Currently, Michelle is focused on caring for their son, while Chen Xiao is occupied with filming his new drama, “Legend of the Magnate.”
Rumors about their separation have been circulating on social media for more than two months. ETtoday reported that Chen Xiao would prefer to move out rather than proceed with a divorce. He even changed his phone number, requiring them to communicate through a third party.
So far, neither Michelle nor Chen Xiao has responded to these rumors.
This isn’t the first time the couple has been the subject of breakup speculation. In the past, there were rumors that Chen Xiao had an affair with Chinese actress Jelly Lin, leading Michelle to reportedly consider divorce, though the couple never publicly addressed these allegations.
In a 2023 interview, Chen Xiao stated that he typically ignores such rumors, finding them “boring.”
Michelle, 41, is famed for her role in the 2011 coming-of-age romance movie “You Are The Apple of My Eye.” She also appeared in the second season of the popular Chinese TV show “Sisters Who Make Waves” in 2021.
Chen Xiao, 37, has gained popularity through his roles in the TV series “Palace 3: The Lost Daughter,” “Swordsman,” and “Nothing Gold Can Stay.” He also starred in the 2022 TV drama “A Dream Of Splendor” alongside actress Liu Yifei.
The duo first met during the filming of “The Romance of the Condor Heroes.” Chen Xiao later shared that he had developed a secret crush on her during the series and pursued her afterward.
He proposed in 2015 by commissioning a statue resembling her character, which he presented on a yacht decorated with roses. The couple married in Beijing in 2016 and have an eight-year-old son named Chen Muchen, affectionately called “Little Star.”
Since going public with their relationship, they have faced criticism from fans who believe Michelle is not a suitable match for Chen Xiao, labeling her his “wrong choice.”
