LONDON — More than 200 players representing 15 squads made up of overseas Vietnamese living across the UK have competed in the community’s annual football tournament in London.

Organised by the Vietnamese Association in the UK (VAUK), this year’s competition saw Xóm (Hamlet) team from London winning first prize. For the first time, it featured a children’s championship, with FC Longdan declared the winner.

Those who scored the most or demonstrated excellent goalkeeping, among others, were also given prizes.

VAUK President Tăng Tuấn Tú said the tournament aimed to foster unity among Vietnamese expatriates, promote their sportsmanship and enhance the image of the community.

The 2024 edition was rounded off with a gala dinner, where an auction of paintings and handicrafts raised a total of US$7,000 for the community’s educational fund. VNS
