Việt Nam’s top player Lý Hoàng Nam is seeded No 6 at the Việt Nam F2 Men’s Futures tennis tournament, which began yesterday in Bình Dương Province.
Nam, whose latest world ranking is No 552, nine places down compared with last week, will play Ellis Blake of Australia in the first round match, singles category, today.
It is the second time the two players meet each other within a week. Nam defeated Blake 7-5, 6-7, 6-3 in the quarter-finals of the F1 tournament on Friday.
The Vietnamese then lost to Duldaev Daniiar of Kyrgyzstan in the semi-finals on Saturday.
On the first day of competition yesterday, national champion Phạm Minh Tuấn, who received a wild-card, was defeated 1-6, 1-6 by German Ollert Lukas, world No 664.
Apart from Nam and Tuấn, Việt Nam have two other representatives — Trịnh Linh Giang and Vũ Artem — competing in the singles event.

In the doubles category, Giang and Tuấn will play No 1 duo Daniiar and Fayziev Sanjar of Uzebekistan, while Artem and his partner American Diaz Miguel will face Yutaro Matsuzaki of Japan and Kelsey Steveson of Canada.
