South Korean star Go Kyung-pyo visits Vietnam


Actor Go Kyung-pyo and the crew of “6/45,” the all-time highest-grossing South Korean film in Vietnam, is visiting Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) for business and travel.

A source confirmed that Go and his team came to Vietnam to travel and to meet with some studios and film distributors, including local comedian Tran Thanh.

Photos and videos of Go in HCMC were also shared widely on social media. Many Vietnamese said that they wanted to meet the actor.

Go, 32, is one of the rising stars in South Korea. He received recognition in the famous drama series “Reply 1988.” Since then, he has starred in many successful films and series such as “Chicago Typewriter,” “Decision to Leave” and “6/45”. The film “6/45” pulled in a record VND181 billion ($7.67 million) in Vietnam.

Released in September last year, 6/45 achieved an unexpected success despite little promotion. It tells the story of a group of South Korean and North Korean soldiers fighting over a winning lottery ticket.

Go starred in the movie as Chun Woo, a South Korean soldier that accidentally found a lottery ticket worth $5.7 million. Then he carelessly let the ticket fly across the border to North Korea, where it was picked up by a North Korean soldier Yong Ho.

Chun Woo couldn’t get the ticket back while Yong Ho couldn’t go to South Korea to get the money. Things got complicated when other soldiers found out about the incident and everyone a cut.

The movie is also successful in South Korea, where it led the box office for nine consecutive days. The reviews are also positive. It even garnered attention on social media as its reaction videos reached six million views.
