Attending a press conference on Jan. 1 for her new TV drama “Marry My Husband,” Park appeared with a bob layer haircut and a flattering strapless dress.

She spoke for the first time about the aftermath of her 2022 relationship with Kang.

“It was an extremely tiring year and I lived with regret every day,” the actress said.

She added that she had to visit the psychiatric department for an electroencephalogram check, overwhelmed by her thoughts.

Park’s breakup with Kang was confirmed by her management agency in Sep. 2022, only two days after their relationship became public.

Kang was then arrested in early 2023 on charges of alleged embezzlement and market manipulation, according to Yonhap News Agency.

Following his arrest, Park was summoned and questioned by investigators regarding her possible involvement in Kang’s alleged illegal activities. The focus was on whether she had profited from any illicit transactions by the company or its affiliates, according to The Korea Herald.

Park reportedly denied all allegations of her involvement.

There were also rumors about the actress receiving financial benefits from Kang, including an automobile and other luxury gifts.

During the press conference, Park took the chance to apologize to her fans and vow to improve as an actress.

“I have always wanted to be an actress that people can be proud of for the past 20 years,” she remarked. “I feel very regretful now. I am trying to return to my true self.”

Park, 38, debuted in the entertainment industry in 2005 by starring in a commercial film for South Korean wireless telecommunications operator SK Telecom.

She launched her acting career the following year and soon rose to fame. Her most representative works throughout her prolific career include the TV series “High Kick!,” “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” and “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.”
