The downpour that occurred on Wednesday afternoon submerged many areas in Ho Chi Minh City, especially Districts 6 and 11, the fourth inundation during the past consecutive days.
Traffic chaos occurred in the intersection of Tan Hoa – Dang Nguyen Can Streets in District 6, which was heavily flooded.
May people including students fell after being trapped by potholes hidden under the deep water in this area.
Numerous vehicles broke down in seriously flooded areas, including Le Dinh Can Street in Binh Tan District and Lac Long Quan Street in District 11.
Meanwhile, strong winds during the rains uprooted many trees on different streets, including Lu Gia and Au Co in District 11.
According to the Operation Center of the HCMC Anti-flood Program, the rainfall of the torrential rain yesterday reached 80.5 mm.
The ongoing construction of the Tan Hoa-Lo Gom canal has narrowed flows of rainwater, leading a slow drain of water and causing inundation.
