Hong Kong singer Raymond Lam, the former boyfriend of actress Karena Ng, indicated his discomfort when a reporter asked for his comments on Ng’s new marriage to businessman Brian Sze.

According to Sinchew, during a press conference on Aug. 8 to promote his new project, Lam was handed a microphone by a reporter, who immediately asked about his feelings regarding Ng’s marriage in Italy earlier this month. He promptly returned the microphone to the reporter and politely started with a forced smile: “I will not answer this question.”
On Weibo, many comments suggested Lam “could at least wish his ex well,” while others noted he “seems not yet comfortable with their breakup.”
Some criticized the questioner: “They [Lam and Ng] have broken up, both have moved on to new happiness, such questions are really tactless.”
Not only was Lam put in a difficult position, but his wife Carina Zhang also suffered collateral damage, with some Internet users taunting her on social media.
“She [Ng] had a lavish wedding in Europe, what about you?,” one Internet user said. “He [Lam] promised you a wedding but there’s still nothing, what a pity.”
The comment refers to how Lam once promised Zhang a glamorous wedding during a reality show appearance, but it has not yet happened. They only registered their marriage and had a child together.
Facing these criticisms, both Zhang and Lam remained silent.
Beside his career in the entertainment industry, Lam, 45, is also known as the son of a real estate tycoon from China’s southeastern city of Xiamen.
He met Ng, 31, while filming the 2012 movie “Love Is… Pyjamas.” The two quickly developed romantic feelings for each other, yet parted ways in 2018, with Lam marrying Zhang, 34, the following year.
Meanwhile, Ng and Sze, 35, went public with their relationship in 2022.
Sze serves as the vice president of a digital payment platform and is an alumnus of George Washington University in the U.S. His family, including a grandfather and father who are prominent businessmen, has a reported net worth of HKD10 billion (US$1.28 billion), according to Chinese media.
