Singapore’s Changi Airport restarts free city tours for transit passengers

Participants will also need to have a valid entry visa for Singapore to take part in the tours, The Strait Times reported.

In addition to three tour itineraries available since pre-Covid, the City Sights Tour, Heritage Tour and Jewel Tour, the newest addition is the Changi Precinct Tour, which includes stops at Tampines New Town and at Tampines Central Park.

Each tour lasts 2.5 hours and is available daily.

The City Sights Tour will take passengers around Singapore, visiting many of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the National Gallery Singapore, the Anderson Bridge, Gardens by the Bay, and the Marina Bay Financial District.

The Heritage Tour, meanwhile, will take travelers to see some of Singapore’s more historical and traditional sights as well as distinctly cultural areas such as Chinatown and Arab Street.

The Jewel Tour will take tourists to some of Changi Airport’s world-class attractions such as Shiseido Forest Valley, a tranquil indoor forest featuring plants from all over the world, and the HSBC Rain Vortex – the world’s largest indoor waterfall.

With transit and transfer passengers accounting for about 30% of passenger traffic at Changi Airport pre-pandemic, the free city tours were first introduced in 1987 to enhance the airport’s attractiveness as a transfer hub and to promote Singapore’s tourism image.

Before the start of the pandemic, Changi Airport was the world’s seventh busiest in terms of international passenger traffic, managing a record 68.3 million passenger movements in 2019.
