Hotel Properties Limited, property and hotel developer owned by Singapore tycoon Ong Beng Seng, has opened a luxury resort on Malaysia’s Tioman Island, famous for diving experiences.
The new resort, opened on July 1, is called Boathouse Pulau Tioman and located on the southwest coast of Tioman in Kampung Nipah, a 10-minute boat ride from Kampung Genting, and features 31 bungalows, Straits Times reported.
Room rates cost from RM1,200 (US$255) per night and it will target tourists from Singapore, Malaysia, Europe, North Asia and India.

This is the third high-end resort on the island so far.
The other two resorts are Malaysian tycoon Vincent Tan’s four-star Berjaya Tioman Resort, and Japamala Tioman Resort operated by Samadhi Retreats.
Tioman Island is sparsely inhabited, and is surrounded by numerous coral reefs, making it a popular destination for scuba diving, snorkeling, and surfing.
Ong Beng Seng is a Singapore-based Malaysian businessman who owns a string of hotel, fashion and lifestyle brands with his wife Christina Ong. In Forbes list of 50 richest in Singapore last year, the couple ranked 26th on the list with their net worth of US$1.7 billion.
