HÀ NỘI — Cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers nationwide will have seven days off during two national holidays this April.

As the commemoration of the Hùng Kings, the legendary founder of the country, on the 10th of the third lunar month falls on Sunday, April 10, people will have another day off on Monday, April 11.

This holiday will last from Saturday, April 9 through April 11, according to the Department of Work Safety under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

Meanwhile, National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) fall on Saturday and Sunday so that workers will have two more days off the following Monday (May 2) and Tuesday (May 3).

These holiday schedules are applied to cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers of administrative and public agencies, as well as political and socio-political organisations. Other agencies and organisations can create their own work plans, suitable to their demands, the Work Safety Department said.

Beneficiaries who work overtime or have night shifts on holidays and New Year’s Eve will be entitled to at least three times their normal daily salary, not including their daytime wage. Foreign workers working in Việt Nam will also be entitled to have days off during Việt Nam’s public holidays.

Under current regulations, if the holidays fall on weekends, people will have compensating days off, prolonging the holiday, creating conditions for travel and relaxation.

Việt Nam has relaxed many travel regulations based on the developments of the pandemic. For example, people who have received a full dose of vaccine or recovered from COVID-19 will not have to show test results except those from high-risk areas or who receive a request for an epidemiological investigation.

Such adjusted travel policies are expected to help domestic tourism recover.

Moreover, Việt Nam has also opened up to tourism since March 15 after a two-year interruption due to the pandemic. — VnExpress News
