Ring road to relocate 800 Hanoi families

Hanoi plans to reclaim 812 ha of land through 2024 for the construction of Ring Road 4 and a national railway corridor, for which over 800 families are to be relocated.

Of the land to be reclaimed, 40 ha (99 acres) would be reserved for resettlement areas, according to a feasibility report recently approved by the Hanoi municipal government. Thirteen resettlement areas will be built in five districts, the report added.

Over 800 families are expected to be relocated, according to the Hanoi Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Projects, which is the main investor of the Ring Road 4 project section within Hanoi.

Some 11,000 graves and 43 high-voltage electric poles would also be relocated, according to the board.

The total cost of relocation and compensation will amount to over VND13 trillion ($548.4 million), including the cost of constructing resettlement areas and other costs relevant to the project.

Ring Road 4 will span 112km through Hanoi, Hung Yen and Bac Ninh Provinces. The total investment cost of the project has been estimated at VND85.8 trillion. The road is expected to open to the public in 2027.
