President Tô Lâm gets warm response from voters in Hưng Yên City

Voters raised several concerns in various areas of public interest, such as fire prevention, trade union recruitment policy, notary office establishment, juvenile justice law and construction planning.

HƯNG YÊN — Việt Nam’s socio-economic indicators have increased steadily, with economic growth rates remaining on track and close to the 6.5-per-cent target, President Tô lâm told voters at a meeting in Hưng Yên City.

He made the remarks at the meeting in Hưng Yên Province, on Tuesday, to report on the outcomes of the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly.

Voters in the province warmly congratulated President Tô Lâm in his new position and expressed approval of the session’s outcomes, particularly regarding legislation, oversights and the decisions on important national issues.

They also raised several concerns in various areas of public interest, such as fire prevention, trade union recruitment policy, notary office establishment, juvenile justice law and construction planning.

Voter Chu Tiểu Bình expressed worries over the recent serious fires causing significant damage to lives and properties. 

He called for amendments to the Law on Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue and augmented fire prevention education and training programmes to enhance public awareness of fire safety.  

Trần Văn Biên from Liên Phương Commune, Hưng Yên City, highlighted the difficulties in accessing construction planning information online.

He said while some local authorities upload comprehensive information on their digital portals, others lag in their online presence, complicating data retrieval for businesses and individuals.  

He urged lawmakers to mandate the full disclosure of construction planning information on digital portals. He also suggested adding new features to the portals, such as a quick search tool, to improve data accessibility.

President Tô Lâm acknowledged the voters’ concerns about fire safety, noting that the Ministry of Public Security had promptly issued regulations to help prevent repeats of recent fatal fires.

He also revealed that several measures to curb fire risks were proposed and are under consideration, including separating residential and business areas and strengthening supervision of household electricity systems.

Regarding information accessibility, he underlined the role of data transparency in the country’s development and called for improvements to ensure construction planning information serves the public interest and prevents misuse for personal gains.

President Tô Lâm also highlighted the country’s ongoing efforts in anti-corruption, strengthening national defence and security and enhancing Việt Nam’s international standing.

He reported that in the recent session of the National Assembly ten laws were passed, three resolutions were agreed and feedback was given on 11 legal projects, showing their determination to improve the legal framework to meet practical demands.

Regarding salary policies, President Tô Lâm underlined the significant impact on retired workers and the ongoing preparations for salary increases, despite previous delays.

He said the Government had allocated resources to ensure budget provisions for these increases, striving for fairness among current and retired workers.

At the same time President Tô Lâm donated 50 computers to Hưng Yên City and visited two policy beneficiary families, presenting gifts to the families of Nguyễn Quốc Sông and Phạm Thị Cậy. — VNS
