The entire party and people nationwide should create new momentum based on their past achievements to attain development goals set by the Party Central Committee in its 11th tenure, Communist Party of Vietnam’s General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has said.
The party leader made the call in his closing speech at the end of the Central Committee’s 10th meeting in Hanoi on January 12, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
He also emphasized that the year of 2015 is significant because it is the final year of the implementation of the Resolution adopted by the 11th National Party Congress and the 2011-2015 socio-economic development plan.
It is also the year of hosting Party congresses at all levels towards the 12th National Party Congress, General Secretary Trong said, adding that all necessary preparations must be done for the Congress, making it a congress of unity, democracy and reform.
The Party chief also briefed the main outcomes of the eight-day sitting, saying that the Party Central Committee reached a consensus on major issues of the draft documents of the 12th National Party Congress.
Over the past 30 years of the country’s renewal process and the five-year implementation of the Resolution adopted by the 11th National Party Congress, the country has gained significant achievements that will create new boosts to its renovation and development in the coming time.
The country needs to step up industrialization and modernization, and develop a socialism-oriented market economy by adopting fine-tuning regulations, renewing growth model and building a high-quality workforce.
At the same time, national defense and security should be strengthened while social progress and fairness should be promoted, he said.
He requested more attention to setting the socio-economic targets for the 2016-2020 period, especially the settlement of bad debts, macro-economic stabilization, improvement of economic climate and competitiveness, restructuring of State-owned enterprises, infrastructure upgrade, and others.
During the 10th meeting, the committee nominated more officials to key positions, cast confidence vote on members of the Politburo and the Secretariat, and elected more officials to the Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, General Secretary Trong said.
