Viet Nam and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea are seeking ways to develop trade, cultural and sporting ties.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said this during talks with visiting DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Su-yong in Ha Noi yesterday.
Minh hailed the maintenance of visits by officials from the two countries as a way to raise mutual understanding.
He said that Minister Ri Su-yong’s visit came at a time when both countries were preparing for the 65th year of the founding of their diplomatic ties (January 31).
Ri replied that the long-standing friendship was founded and fostered by late Presidents Kim Il Sung and Ho Chi Minh.
He said his country wanted the two foreign ministries to foster co-ordination and jointly work on regional and global issues.
Both exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula and the East Sea issues among regional and international matters of mutual concern.
