The second runner-up of Miss Sea Vietnam Global Nguyen Phuong Khanh has been selected as the representative for Vietnam at Miss Earth 2018 which will be held in the Philippines from October 7 to November 3.
Khanh made a huge impression on Miss Earth 2015 Angelina Ong during the Vietnamese selection. Ong was on the judging panel for the northern region on August 26, with Miss Global 2017 Barbara Vitorelli, Mister Manhunt International 2017 Truong Ngoc Tinh, Miss Vietnam Heritage Global 2016 Tran Thi Thu Ngan and Miss Vietnam 1994 Nguyen Thu Thuy.
Khanh earned praise from the judges for her confidence and English skills. She was also considered to be an outstanding personality who strongly expressed the desire and ambition to compete on international stages.
Khanh is currently studying and living in Singapore. She returned to Hanoi in order to realise the dream to participate in Miss Earth and contribute to society as she is concerned about environmental problems.
“I love the humanitarian and educational values of the contest. It often brings up current environmental problems and helps raise awareness of both the participants and audience. It’s a beauty contest but it also devotes to social issues and honours women,” she said.
Khanh was given permission to participate in Miss Earth 2018 by the Department of Performing Arts and is preparing to leave for the Philippines.
Nguyen Phuong Khanh, 23, was born in Ben Tre Province. She is 172cm tall, weighs 51 kg, and measures 90-58-94. She is pursuing a degree in marketing at Curtin University, Singapore. Khanh will graduate in early 2019.
She was also the third-place finisher in the Miss Sea Vietnam Global 2018 held in Phu Quoc in April.
