The Prime Minister will join other leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members at the summit on May 12-13. The event commemorates the 45th anniversary of ASEAN-U.S. relations.

Chinh and other ASEAN leaders are expected to attend a reception hosted by President Joe Biden on the evening of May 12 at the White House before attending the main meeting on May 13.

The summit will see leaders of ASEAN countries and the U.S. President look back and evaluate the overall journey of the partnership between the two sides over the past 45 years, and set out orientations for the development of their relationship in the coming time.

ASEAN and the U.S. will also hold separate and in-depth discussions on cooperating in the fields of mutual interest, such as economy, trade, investment, cooperation and maritime security, post-pandemic response and recovery, climate change response, energy, science and technology, and sustainable infrastructure development.

The two sides are expected to adopt a document of a Joint Vision Statement, highlighting achievements in the past 45 years and orientations to promote bilateral relations in the coming time.
