An 82-year-old woman died in the southern province of Binh Duong after being mauled by her family’s pit bull.
On Wednesday evening Dang Thi Van’s daughter opened the dog’s cage to take it for a walk in front of their house in Di An Town.
At that time Van was sitting inside the house dozens of meters away.
Her family members said she was talking loudly, which might have triggered the pit bull. The 30-kilogram animals suddenly ran into the house and bit her in the face.
The family members rushed toward her and pulled the dog away, but Van died within two minutes of the attack.
The Di An police are investigating.
They said the family also has a German Shepherd.
Pit bulls are generally considered the most aggressive and dangerous dog breed in the world.
Last July an eight-year-old boy in the same province was mauled to death by a pit bull belonging to a neighbor.
