Parliament allocates $3.62 bln for building 3 expressways

The National Assembly has approved funding for the first phase of construction of two expressways in the south and one in the south-central region.

At a session Thursday legislators authorized a sum of VND84 trillion ($3.62 billion) for the work.

The Khanh Hoa – Buon Ma Thuot Expressway will run 32.7 kilometers in central Khanh Hoa Province and 84 kilometers in the Central Highlands’ Dak Lak Province, and is expected to foster both economic and tourism development.

Its 117-km first phase has been allocated nearly VND21.9 trillion. Some sections will be completed by 2025, and the entire first phase will open to traffic in 2027.

The 54-km Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway, which will connect the southern industrial provinces of Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, home to several seaport and logistics complexes, will get VND17.8 trillion.

When the first phase is put into use in 2026, it will ease the pressure on National Highway 51 between the two provinces.

The Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway in the Mekong Delta will run along the Hau River from Chau Doc town near the Cambodian border to the coastal Soc Trang town, passing through Can Tho City and the province of Hau Giang.

The first phase will run 188 km and cost VND44.6 trillion.

It will open to traffic in 2027.
