Foreigners can now enter and leave Vietnam through the northern Quang Ninh’s Van Don Airport using e-visas.
Electronic visas simplify the immigration process at airports and save time for everyone involved.
The e-visa codes of each visitor are integrated with border security systems.
Starting in May 2020 eight other airports have been allowing foreigners to enter and leave Vietnam using e-visas: Hanoi’s Noi Bai, HCMC’s Tan Son Nhat, Khanh Hoa’s Cam Ranh, Da Nang, Hai Phong’s Cat Bi, Can Tho, Kien Giang’s Phu Quoc, and Thua Thien-Hue’s Phu Bai.
Vietnam grants e-visas to citizens of 80 countries that allowed them to apply for 30-day, single entry.
The Van Don Airport, the first private airport in Vietnam, spanning 325 ha, began construction in 2015. It cost around VND7.46 trillion ($324.9 million) and has a capacity to receive 2.5 million visitors a year.
