Noi Bai airport in Hanoi and Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City will start a one-month trial of electronic toll collection from Feb. 6.
A representative from the Airport Corporation of Vietnam said more than VND210 billion (US$8.6 million) was spent setting up the ETC systems at the airports.
Car owners with valid ETC accounts used for expressways can use them at the airports without having to go through any more procedures, the source said.

Vietnam’s two largest airports receive 16,000-20,000 cars every day and the toll collection has been conducted manually, causing congestion during days of high travel demand such as the Lunar New Year.
With the ETC system adopted, the fee remains at VND10,000-25,000 every 10 minutes, depending on the car size.
Nearly five million cars in Vietnam, 96% of registered ones, have ETC accounts.
