Starbucks Vietnam’s new outlet in Hoi An has earned kudos from the public for being respectful of the ancient town’s architectural style.
Patricia Marques, general manager of Starbucks Vietnam, recently posted a series of photos on LinkedIn of the new store in Hoi An, which will open on December 9.
It has the iconic yellow color of the town rather than the regular Starbucks green tones, and wooden doors at the entrance, also a traditional feature.
Situated in the central province of Quang Nam, tourist hotspot Hoi An is known for its red tile-roofed centuries-old houses and yellow walls.

The LinkedIn post garnered over 1,500 likes in one day. Many people praised the store’s vintage exterior and retro looks in the comments section and how the architecture honors the traditions of Hoi An.
“Can’t wait to visit such a beautiful and so ‘Hoi An’ a store! Really interesting,” a person with an account named Hai Bang Nguyen wrote.
Nguyen Duong said he loves the brand’s localized design, saying: “When in Rome do as the Romans do – this is perfectly apt of Starbucks Hoi An. Can’t wait to visit this place.”
Khang Ngo: “The vibe is perfectly Tonkin-ish. Thank you!”
News about the store has been shared widely on Facebook, with some community posts receiving thousands of likes and hundreds of comments.
Starbucks came to Vietnam in 2013 and now has more than 80 outlets in six cities and provinces.
