Nam Định to see Hà Tĩnh in the V.League 1’s opener

HÀ NỘI Thép Xanh Nam Định will begin their premier league title defending campaign in the seasonal opening match against Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh on September 14.

The Việt Nam Professional Football Company (VPF) conducted a draw on August 2 in Hà Nội.

Accordingly, the V-League 1 2024-25 season will feature 14 teams. Under new main sponsor, the tournament will be called the LBBank V.League 1 2024-25.

In the other matches, Hà Nội FC will host Bình Định at the Hàng Đẫy Stadium; HCM City will entertain Thể Công-Viettel at the Thống Nhất; promoted SHB Đà Nẵng will travel to Nghệ An to see host Sông Lam Nghệ An; Hà Nội Police will visit Hải Phòng at the Lạch Tray; National Cup winner Đông Á Thanh Hóa will play Becamex Bình Dương; and Hoàng Anh Gia Lai will meet Quảng Nam.

The tournament will see teams playing in a two-leg format competition. It is scheduled to end on June 29, 2025.  The bottom team will be relegated. A play-off match will be held between the penultimate side of the V.League 1 and second-place team of the V.League 2, with the loser then playing in the V.League 2 next season.

It is the second year that the national football leagues span from autumn to summer, offering an extended timeframe for the competitions.

Each club are allowed to registered three foreign player, one naturalised player and two of Vietnamese origin.

Club which will take part in the AFC tournament can register five foreign players but only three can play in one match.

Earlier, the National Super Cup match will kick off the season. V.League champions Nam Định will play National Cup winner Đông Á Thanh Hóa on August 31.

At the draw, VPF also presents new balls entitled UVI 2.07 Terra which meet FIFA Quality Pro standards and new jersey for the referees and referee assistants for the upcoming season. The products are designed and made by Động Lực Group, a long-time partner of VPF. VNS
