My sister-in-law never washes dishes when she eats at our home

My mother-in-law prepares lunch for us daily, and I assist her in preparing the food, but my sister-in-law and her husband’s younger brother arrive and eat without contributing anything.

I’m currently residing with my husband at my in-laws’ house, which is about five kilometers from the workplace of my husband’s older sister. Thus, she and her husband’s younger brother, who also works nearby, visit my in-laws every weekday at noon for lunch.

The issue is that she consistently leaves her bowl on the table with remnants of rice after she finishes eating. She then either engrosses herself in her phone or engages in conversation with my mother-in-law. Her younger brother, too, uses his phone or steps out to play with the children. Meanwhile, my husband retreats to his room to play video games, leaving me to clean up alone.

After months of this routine, I expressed my frustration to my husband about his sister not helping after meals. He responded by saying that a married daughter shouldn’t have to wash dishes when visiting her parents’ home. He even brought up this topic during a subsequent lunch, prompting his sister to say: “I don’t even have to do anything at my husband’s house, let alone here.”

My mother-in-law chimed in, saying her daughter has to pay off a condo with her husband post-marriage, whereas I immediately moved into a house on the main street with them, suggesting it’s only natural for me to handle the chores. This left me deeply hurt and in tears.

As someone who moved far from my own parents upon marriage, I already feel uncomfortable. With in-laws like these, I wonder if I should consider getting a divorce?
