More than 16,300 new coronavirus infections recorded on Monday

HÀ NỘI – A further 16,378 new COVID-19 infections, along with 179 deaths, were registered nationwide on Monday.

Among the new cases, 53 were imported and the rest local transmissions. A total of 11,178 new infections were detected in the community.

The capital city Hà Nội again tops the list with 2,955 new cases, followed by Đà Nẵng with 924 and Hưng Yên with 675.

Việt Nam’s number of Omicron infections remained the same as yesterday at 68, all imported and quarantined upon arrival.

The national caseload since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,045,290. In the past week, the country saw an average of 16,155 new infections daily.

The 179 fatalities were in HCM City (12), An Giang (23), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (15 ca trong 02 ngày), Hà Nội (14), Tiền Giang (11), Vĩnh Long (11), Kiên Giang (11), Tây Ninh (10), Cần Thơ (10), Khánh Hòa (7), Bến Tre (5), Bạc Liêu (5), Bình Phước (4), Cà Mau (4), Trà Vinh (4), Hà Giang (3), Bình Định (3), Sóc Trăng (3), Huế (3), Bình Dương (3), Đắk Lắk (2), Hải Phòng (2), Hòa Bình (2), Phú Yên (2), Đắk Nông (2), Long An (2), Bắc Kạn (1), Lạng Sơn (1), Quảng Ninh (1), Gia Lai (1), Phú Thọ (1) and Lâm Đồng (1).

The number of deaths announced in An Giang Province includes the figure recorded the day before. 

The total number of COVID-related fatalities in Việt Nam is now 35,788, or 1.7 per cent of total infections.

According to the Ministry of Health, 6,218 patients nationwide are in serious condition, with 702 requiring invasive ventilation and 19 on life support.

A further 20,172 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,747,462.

Nearly 169 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country to date, with more than 78.6 million people receiving at least one dose. — VnExpress News
