MoLISA needs to digitalise its operation to better manage: deputy PM

HÀ NỘI — Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) needs more determination and stronger actions in digital transformation to manage and implement the sector’s tasks in 2022. 

The suggestion was made by Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam during a meeting with the ministry on Wednesday. 

The Government leader attributed many achievements made by Việt Nam last year to efforts of the sector which has contributed to the country’s socio-economic development, maintaining national defence, security and foreign affairs amid the pandemic.

“Not only taking care of social security for tens of millions of people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the sector has continued to implement a multidimensional poverty reduction programme, vocational education and child protection,” he emphasised.

The sector has worked as an advisor to both the Government and the PM in building and issuing resolutions to support businesses and people affected by the COVID-19, he said, highlighting its consultancy in issuing a decree on salary and strong administrative reform.

Pointing out limitations in taking care of people with meritorious services to the revolution, Deputy PM Đam said the sector should continue to coordinate with the Ministry of National Defence to properly handle the work of verifying records and recognising people with meritorious services as well as supporting and taking better care of people with meritorious services and their relatives.

Regarding labour export, the government leader said the agency has cooperated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to protect the legal rights of Vietnamese workers abroad. 

The immediate task for the sector is continuing to develop labour market and have policies and strengthen information efforts to encourage people to choose markets where their legitimate rights and interests are guaranteed. 

The labour ministry needs to restructure vocational training centres in the direction of “autonomy, unified management”, in order to create conditions for institutions to develop stronger.

Deputy PM Đam mentioned other tasks like child protection, saying he asked the localities to seriously implement the formation of child protection networks to the commune level according to the Law on Children.

“In 2022, this work will be even more important because after a long time of not going to school, it has greatly affected the children’s learning results and psychology,” he said, noting MoLISA and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour should have psychological support for employees.

Through the practice of paying support packages to people affected by the pandemic, the government leader hoped that in 2022, the labour sector will be determined to make a strong digital transformation by applying technology in management, support payments through banks.

He also noted that agency has to strengthen inspection on the support for COVID-19 affected people, ensuring that the assistance is given to the right persons and prevent misuse of funds. 

The deputy PM also asked MoLISA, other agencies and localities have to take care of people to welcome safe and joyful Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday.— VnExpress News
