Massive fire ravages Taiwanese woodworking factory in Dong Nai

A blaze lasting three hours completely destroyed a 13,000-square-meter wood processing factory in an industrial zone of the southern Dong Nai Province on Thursday night.

The factory, located in Bau Xeo Industrial Park, is owned by Shingmark Vina, a Taiwanese company specializing in wood products with over 5,000 employees.

The facility sustained significant damage, with the entire steel frame and roof collapsing and all goods incinerated.

Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries were reported.

The fire initially erupted in the finished goods storage area at around 9:30 p.m. and quickly spread.

The workshop primarily stored wood products and raw materials, with separate sections built to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the factory.

The fire was extinguished by early Thursday morning, but firefighters remained on the scene to prevent any re-ignition.

Deputy Chairman Le Duc Thuy of the Trang Bom Labor Union noted that the fire initially did not affect the company’s production lines.

Plans are now in place to relocate workers to other areas to continue work while recovery efforts are underway.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hai, head of the Dong Nai Provincial Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Department, reported that the workers had left the workshop 30 minutes before the fire started.

The large scale of the fire, which eventually consumed the entire warehouse area, made firefighting efforts particularly difficult. The fire was brought under control by midnight, he said.

Shingmark Vina is one of the largest wood companies in Dong Nai. It has been operated in the province for two decades.
