Manny Pacquiao confirms 2024 Floyd Mayweather fight

Legendary Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao will step into the ring with the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. once more, this time in an exhibition match.

During the RIZIN Fighting Federation’s New Year event in Saitama, Japan, Pacquiao said he’s ready for a big fight in 2024.

“I’m ready,” Pacquiao said as he apologized to the audience that a Rizn exhibition match in 2023 did not happen, according to a video posted on the federation’s Facebook page.

“Next year, I hope to see you here, in Japan with a big fight against…” Pacquiao turned to Rizin president Nobuyuki Sakakibara to check if was ok for him to reveal the name.

“Floyd Mayweather!” Sakakibara said.

“Floyd Mayweather, yeah. I’m excited for that. Thank you.”

No other details of the fight were revealed besides Pacquiao’s confirmation.

It’s been nearly nine years since the first Pacquiao and Mayweather encounter in Las Vegas, which was dubbed “The Fight of the Century.”

Mayweather won via unanimous decision and unified the WBC, WBA and WBO welterweight titles.

The fight broke pay-per-view records with 4.6 million subscribers.

Pacquiao, one of the greatest boxers of all time, retired in 2021 with 62 wins and two losses.

He has since switched to exhibition matches only.

His next fight is set to be against Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek later this month.

Mayweather, also one of the greatest of all time, boasts an even more impressive record. He retired with a perfect record of 50 undefeated fights and has fought in seven exhibition matches so far, including his most recent bout against John Gotti III last June.
