With many Vietnamese tourists interested in traveling abroad as countries lift Covid-19 testing and quarantine requirements, here’s a review of available international flights to enable such travel plans.
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines currently operates three weekly flights from Hanoi and HCMC to Bangkok while Vietjet Air has doubled its frequency on the HCMC-Bangkok route to six daily flights.
Bamboo Airways is scheduled to resume its HCMC-Bangkok route on March 17.
On February 1, Thailand began a quarantine-free travel program it calls Test & Go allowing fully vaccinated travelers from Vietnam to enter without quarantine.
Singaporean authorities have decided to restore two-way quarantine-free travel with Vietnam starting March 16.
Those wishing to visit Singapore can book air tickets through Vietnam Airlines, which operates three weekly flights from HCMC and Hanoi to the island state.
From March 27, there would be four weekly flights from HCMC to Kuala Lumpur.
The Philippines has also reopened international tourism in February with quarantine exemption and Vietnamese tourists can book services through Philippines Airlines and Cebu Pacific, which have resumed flights from HCMC to Manila.
Vietnam Airlines is also operating three weekly flights from Hanoi to Vientiane and six from HCMC.
Those wishing to fly to Phnom Penh from HCMC can also book Vietnam Airlines tickets with three weekly flights.
Vietnamese carriers have not yet resumed flights from Vietnam to India. Therefore, Vietnamese tourists wishing to visit the country can fly from Hanoi or HCMC to Bangkok on Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet Air and catch another flight on Indigo Airlines.
In addition, tourists also can fly from Hanoi and HCMC and transit in Singapore or Malaysia where you can catch another flight to New Delhi on Indigo or Air India airlines.
For a holiday trip to Maldives, tourists can book air tickets with Singapore Airlines from HCMC or Hanoi and transit in Singapore.
For the Middle East region, Emirates Airlines has resumed commercial flights from Dubai to HCMC and Hanoi from March 13 while Turkish Airlines has reopened a direct flight from HCMC to Istanbul, flying continuously for nearly 12 hours.
Tourists departing from Hanoi for Dubai can use Qatar Airways and transit at Doha or Malaysia Airlines with transit at Kuala Lumpur.
Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways are operating direct flights to Frankfurt and London with limited frequency.
Europe reopened to Vietnamese tourists from March 1.
So far, more than 50 countries around the world have lifted Covid testing and quarantine requirements for Vietnamese tourists.
