Lowest daily number of COVID cases in two months

HÀ NỘI — As the Lunar New Year approaches, there were 12,674 new COVID-19 cases discovered on Monday, the lowest daily increase in two months.

The total number of infections now stands at 2,275,727. A further 109 COVID-related deaths were also announced.

The capital city of Hà Nội continued to record the highest number of cases with 2,728, followed by Đà Nẵng with 877 and 781 in Bắc Ninh. 

Other infections were found in Hải Phòng (552), Nam Định (474), Thanh Hóa (432), Hải Dương (404), Quảng Nam (403), Hưng Yên (381), Bình Định (355), Phú Thọ (348), Nghệ An (343), Bắc Giang (340), Kon Tum (288), Thái Bình (266), Vĩnh Phúc (260), Hòa Bình (235), Thái Nguyên (227), Thừa Thiên Huế (207), Lâm Đồng (198), Bình Phước (189), Ninh Bình (180), HCM City (166), Hà Nam (159), Quảng Ninh (148), Tây Ninh (111), Cà Mau (99), Quảng Bình (96), Kiên Giang (94), Sơn La (91), Hà Giang (87), Bến Tre (87), Quảng Trị (85), Phú Yên (79), Tuyên Quang (75), Yên Bái (70), Khánh Hòa (62), Quảng Ngãi (61), Lào Cai (58), Bắc Kạn (57), Điện Biên (53), Đắk Nông (51), Bình Thuận (51), Vĩnh Long (41), Bạc Liêu (41), Lai Châu (34), Hậu Giang (30), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (26), Trà Vinh (25), Cao Bằng (21), Bình Dương (21), An Giang (20), Đồng Tháp (18), Ninh Thuận (18), Long An (14), Cần Thơ (12), and Đồng Nai (8).

Among the new cases, 37 were imported and the rest were local transmissions. A total of 8,517 new infections were detected in the community.

Việt Nam also recorded 185 Omicron cases so far.

The COVID-related fatalities were announced in Hà Nội (20), Vĩnh Long (8), Hậu Giang (6), Kiên Giang (6), Tây Ninh (6), Đồng Tháp (5), Bình Định (4), Bình Dương (4), HCM City (4), Hải Phòng (4), Sóc Trăng (4), TP Hồ Chí Minh (4), Bình Thuận (3), Cà Mau (3), Đắk Nông (3), Lâm Đồng (3), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (2), Bình Phước (2), Đà Nẵng (2), Đồng Nai (2), Khánh Hòa (2), Thái Bình (2), Thừa Thiên Huế (2), An Giang (1), Hải Dương (1), Lạng Sơn (1), Long An (1), Nam Định (1), Ninh Bình (1), Quảng Bình (1), Quảng Ngãi (1), Quảng Ninh (1), Tiền Giang (1), Trà Vinh (1), and Yên Bái (1).

Việt Nam’s COVID-19 death toll is now 37,777, accounting for 1.7 per cent of the total cases.

The Ministry of Health also reported that 3,620 patients nationwide are in critical condition, with 450 requiring invasive ventilation and 19 on life support.

A further 4,835 patients were given the all-clear on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,022,450. 

Nearly 181.3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far, with more than 74.1 million people receiving full two doses. — VnExpress News
