Vietnam have lost against China in all seven previous encounters, scoring five goals and conceding 23.

Vietnam are still looking for the first point after losing all seven games in the final round of World Cup qualifiers so far.

For China, their chance of qualifying for the World Cup 2022 was also over as they only earned five points after seven matches.

In the first leg last year, Vietnam lost 2-3 to China with Wu Lei scoring the late winning goal.
