Vietnamese and Korean dancers will jointly perform in the Cay No (crossbow) show, based on the legends of the two countries, at HCM City Opera House on June 2.
Korean choreographer Yoo-Oh Chun will also participate in the cultural show.
Cay No’s choreography is based on documents about the similarities between the fates of the two countries’ princesses, My Chau and Nakrang. The story will be narrated via traditional Korean dances and Vietnamese ballet. Ten dancers of the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera will participate in the performance.
Yoo-Oh Chun has been living in HCM City with Vietnamese dancers for about 10 years. She expects to share the similarities in cultural and historical values of Viet Nam and Korea via this dance performance.
After the Cay No performance, Yoo-Oh Chun will prepare a new dance show based on Vietnamese and Korean history next December. At the end of 2014, she introduced the Sai Gon Arirang dance show, which was highly praised by both the Vietnamese audience and experts. VNS
