HA NOI — Indian artists will demonstrate a colourful and vivid traditional Indian wedding with a performance of The Great Indian Wedding on Thursday in Ha Noi.
The Great Indian Wedding is a musical enactment of the sacred ceremony of marriage featuring the larger than life celebrations that surround it in India.
The musical dance depicts the love story of the hero, who is from the high spirited state of Punjab, and his lady, who hails from the poised state of Tamil Nadu. The two move to the cultural capital of Maharashtra, Pune, for higher education, where they meet and fall in love with each other. After graduation, they plan to get married, but are worried they will not receive blessings from their families as arranged marriages remain dominant in their culture. However, time has progressed over generations and their parents are convinced.
The 45-minute act by the Bollywood Dance Era Group has dynamic audio-visuals playing in the backdrop and beautiful dance sequences depicting the story.
The performance starts at 8pm at Au Co Art Centre, 8 Huynh Thuc Khang Street.
The Great Indian Wedding will also be performed in Phu Tho and Yen Bai on Saturday and Sunday.
