Industry-leading K-pop boy band Super Junior are arriving in Ho Chi Minh City for a concert in the southern hub Saturday.
Three of the super group’s superstars have already arrived in Vietnam, while the other members are currently on their way, according to local newspaper Thanh Nien.
Siwon was the first to arrive on Thursday. He immediately uploaded a selfie taken at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, and fans were surprised that he’d traveled to Vietnam quietly without any prior announcement.
Photos of Siwon at the airport quickly spread far and wide on social media. The singer wore a lowkey outfit of a simple shirt, jeans, mask and sunglasses.
On Friday, Super Junior singers Eunhyuk and Shindong also arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport. Unlike Siwon, these two had revealed their schedule before traveling, so a large number of HCMC fans had gathered outside the airport to welcome them as they left the building.
The remaining members of Super Junior are set to arrive early on Saturday, and the group’s Super Junior World Tour – Super Show 9: Road in Ho Chi Minh is scheduled for later that day. The show at Military Zone 7 Stadium in Tan Binh District is part of the boy band’s ongoing world tour.
Ticket prices range from VND1.5-3.8 million ($63-160). This is the second time that Super Junior will have played Vietnam. The first time was in 2011 in the southern province of Binh Duong, which neighbors Ho Chi Minh City.
Super Junior were formed in 2005 with twelve members and boosted the lineup to 13 in 2006. After 18 years they were left with 10 members. For their contributions to K-pop, they’ve been dubbed by the media as the “Kings of Hallyu Wave”. Super Junior are one of the best-selling K-pop artists of all time with 3.23 albums sold.
