HCM CITY — An exhibition programme for Lâm Đồng Province’s OCOP products, specialities and outstanding rural industrial items began in HCM City on August 23.

Organised by the Investment and Promotion Centre of HCM City (ITPC) and the Centre for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion of Lâm Đồng, the event  aims to introduce the province’s products and enhance commercial cooperation between the two localities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyễn Vĩnh Quảng, deputy director of the provincial Centre for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion , said with its mild climate, fertile soil and skills and diligence of its people, the province produces renowned specialities ranging from fresh agricultural products such as vegetables, flowers and fruits to uniquely processed products like tea, coffee, wine, and jams, all with the “distinctive flavours of the highlands.”

He said with its total cultivated area of over 367,000 hectares, including more than 68,000ha with high-tech agriculture, the province offers a wide variety of products that meet consumer demands at home, including in HCM City, and abroad.

“The province has 352 OCOP certified products rated three-five stars, while [its] vegetables, flowers, Arabica coffee, and agricultural tourism have been granted 22 exclusive trademarks and the ‘Đà Lạt brand – Magical crystallisation from good soil’ trademark, affirming its product standards and quality.”

The province has always identified HCM City as a key market, he said.

The event offers an opportunity for the province’s enterprises and cooperatives to introduce their best products, seek partners and expand their market while enabling its OCOP products and specialities to reach consumers in the country’s most dynamic market.

Trần Phú Lữ, the ITPC’s director, said the city, the country’s economic locomotive, has proactively co-operated with localities in the Central Highlands, helping leverage their strengths to progress towards the goal of sustainable development for both sides.

In recent years their socio-economic development cooperation programme has achieved  positive results across spheres, he said.

The ITPC would coordinate with Central Highlands provinces, Lâm Đồng in particular, to organise trade and investment promotion activities, with a focus on promoting farm produce and OCOP, speciality and rural industrial items in the city, he added.

The event is being held at the Export Showroom at 92-96 Nguyễn Huệ Street in District 1 until August 29. — VNS
