Two squadron training vessels of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force docked in the central city of Da Nang Thursday.
Hatakaze and Inazuma, carrying 480 officers and crew members, are led by Colonel II Masaaki, commander of the No.1 training vessel unit. The vessels are in town on a three-day friendly visit (Thursday to Saturday).
The visit aims to foster mutual exchanges and understanding between the Vietnamese Navy and the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, bolstering bilateral military cooperation in turn, said Masaaki.
During the visit, the Japanese delegation’s leaders will meet with the Da Nang People’s Committee and the Naval Region 3 Command online.
The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force has organized friendly visits to Da Nang for more than a decade since 2011, with its vessels docking in the central city in 2013, 2015 and 2019.
