I’ve been married for 20 years and am 46 years old. One of my sons is in fifth grade, and the other is in the twelfth. My husband has been unloving towards our family.
My husband is a controlling man and he gets drunk often, partly due to work, partly because he likes to drink.
When he’s drunk, he becomes abusive to me and our children.
I’ve gradually lost all my love for him. Many times I thought about giving up on our marriage, but because in the past I wasn’t quite financially stable and because I was concerned about a divorce might affect my parents and family, I still tried to live with him.
But now I’m quite financially independent, so I asked my husband for a divorce.
However, after hearing my request, he changed completely, becoming very affectionate toward me and doing things he has never done before to show this affection.
He takes great care of me and gives me all his money and assets for me to manage. He begs me not to divorce him, saying it’s for the sake of our children and our family’s happiness.
I don’t know what to do now that he’s suddenly changed like this. I look forward to hearing your suggestions and whatever you have to share.
