Hue people excited about third VnExpress Marathon season: official

Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue, said that after three years of organization, VnExpress Marathon Imperial Hue has spread far and wide among not only the running community but also the local residents.

“Hue people are eager to welcome runners to the former ancient capital,” Binh said at a pre-race press conference Thursday.

Many athletes, running clubs, local leaders, organizers and sponsors attended the conference held two days before the race.

For the past three years, the VnExpress Marathon Imperial Hue has become a big event that attracts tens of thousands of tourists to come to Hue in April.

“VnExpress Marathon has helped deliver a Hue’s image with hospitality to runners and tourists,” said Binh.

“Hue will make the VnExpress Marathon part of the Four Seasons Festival, offering runners and their families a variety of experiences in the city,” he said.

Pham Trong Nghiep, head of the organizing committee, said: “While many marathon races have been held, VnExpress Marathon aims to make running become a lifestyle, and an indispensable activity in peopne’s daily schedule.”

VnExpress Marathon Imperial Hue 2023 will take place on the morning of April 16, with 10,500 runners, twice the number from the previous season. Many seasoned foreign athletes will compete in the race.
